In a recent interview, the President of AOHVA, Garett Schmidt, shed light on the historical efforts of the organization. Until this year, the 24 member clubs comprising AOHVA had been actively involved in trail maintenance through volunteer work, the use of equipment, and generous donations. The government's Trails Act, enacted in 2021, granted the minister the authority to select organizations tasked with the responsibility of trail maintenance, with AOHVA and the snowmobile association being the pioneering recipients of this support.

The financial support is earmarked for organizations dedicated to trail maintenance, with the Alberta Off-Highway Vehicle Association (AOHVA) and the Alberta Snowmobile Association set to be the primary beneficiaries. These groups, responsible for the well-being of off-road trails, will utilize the funds to not only preserve but also improve the existing trail networks, much to the delight of off-road adventure enthusiasts.

Importantly, he discussed the organization's commitment to environmental sustainability, citing plans to construct bridges over creeks to minimize the impact of off-road vehicles on water bodies. Thus, the off-road community in Alberta anticipates an exciting and environmentally conscious future ahead. Click to read the full news.
